Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) took a stance against “horrifying” conditions at the border under President Biden and demanded families separated under the previous administration be given “reparations.”
“As we’ve seen there are arrivals and undocumented children – rather unaccompanied children that have come at the border and this had lead to completely inhuman and unacceptable, horrifying conditions of children in CBP custody,” she told constituents.
“And it’s unacceptable and it’s horrifying.”
Still, the New York Representative ran cover for the President, saying the difference between him and his predecessor is that Biden is “trying to figure out” the problem.

AOC Demands Reparations For Separated Families
AOC went on to insist that families separated during Trump’s presidency are “owed reparations, period.”
She said she wasn’t offering Biden excuses for the current situation, however.
“I don’t want to excuse any of this,” she said of the current administration’s policies. “We should be doing better by now.”

The schizophrenic shift in AOC’s urgency regarding the border crisis comes after she downplayed calling it a “surge” at the border, claiming such a term promotes a “militaristic frame” that is “a white supremacist idea.”
AOC on Instagram Live talking about the border:
“Anyone who is using the term ‘surge’ around you consciously is trying to invoke a militaristic frame… This is not a surge. These are children and they are not insurgents.”

In fact, she took issue with calling it a border crisis at all.
“It’s not a border crisis. It’s an imperialism crisis, it’s a climate crisis, it’s a trade crisis. And also it’s a carceral crisis,” she said, having previously defined similar conditions under Trump as “concentration camps.”
Crisis At The Border
Earlier this week, Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Tom McClintock (R-CA) sent a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding documents that purportedly warned the Biden administration that reversing former President Donald Trump’s border policies would create a crisis.
“Instead of heeding these warnings, President Biden signed several executive orders dismantling the Trump Administration’s immigration programs and policies,” they wrote.
“The reversal of President Trump’s successful immigration policies have created a tremendous incentive for illegal aliens to surge to the southern border,” they concluded. “President Biden and his Administration are responsible for the resulting crisis at the border.”
The Biden Administration inherited effective policies and was warned that rolling them back would cause a surge – but they did it anyways.
They own this crisis.
They own the overcrowded facilities.
They own the unaccompanied children. https://t.co/tx3KyrjDc8

Trump, in an interview with daughter-in-law Lara Trump, blasted President Biden for the border crisis.
“Look at our borders, look what’s happening,” Trump said. “We had the best southern border that we’ve ever had and in one day he said, ‘Everybody come up,’ and what’s going on now is something compared to what’s going to take place during the summer.”
AOC meanwhile, not only wants to pay reparations to people who entered the country illegally, but she wants taxpayers to open their wallets to a $10 trillion infrastructure plan.
“We’re the wealthiest nation in the history of the world,” she said. “So we can do $10 trillion.”
