President Joe Biden’s Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, recently said that Americans will end up paying more to heat their homes throughout the winter this year, when asked directly if that was indeed the case as some had expected.

Granholm made her comments on on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Cold, Expensive Winter

CNN host Dana Bash asked Granholm, “Should Americans — it will likely be a cold winter, most of them are, expect to pay higher prices for heating their homes?”

Granholm replied, “Yes. This is going to happen.”

“It will be more expensive this year than last year,” Granholm continued. “We are in a slightly beneficial position, certainly relative to Europe, because their chokehold of natural gas is significant. They’ll pay five times higher.”

Americans, though, likely aren’t concerned about what Europeans pay.

She compared the changing gas situation to supply chain issues.

“We have the same problem in fuels that the supply chains have, which is that the oil and gas companies are not flipping the switch as quickly as the demand requires,” Granholm said, without elaborating on what that was supposed to mean.

Instead, Granholm used the opportunity to, as has become common on the left, demand an end to fossil fuels.

BUNDLE UP!

Americans should expect to pay higher costs to heat their homes this winter, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said Sunday, a result of high gas prices caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Clean Energy’

The energy secretary said that getting away from the “volatility” of fossil fuels and moving toward cleaner energy was key.

“Let us get off of the volatility associated with fossil fuels and associated with others who don’t have our country’s interests at heart and invest in moving to clean energy where we will not have this problem, and that’s so much of what the two bills are focused on,” Granholm concluded.
