President Biden on Sunday make his first trip as president to the southern U.S. border, stopping first in El Paso, Texas.
Biden was greeted at the airport by Texas GOP Gov. Gregg Abbott.
The president is facing widespread criticism from voters and election officials from both major political parties about record illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border.
After a few hours in the border city of El Paso, Biden is expected to meet with border officials to discuss such issues as migration and the increased trafficking of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids, which are driving soaring overdose numbers in the U.S.
