Deion Sanders does not mess around when it comes to the young men who want to play football for him at Colorado. On Coach Prime’s first day on the job, he told most of the room they should quit because after a 1-11 season, he doesn’t need any of them. The players who stuck around and/or transferred got this speech on what it means to be “the man” and what it means to “fight.”
It’s not just for football. Any and every young male should hear this.
“You all want to be the man until it’s time to be the man. The man, sooner or later, is going to have to prove he can fight. You’re going to have your back up against the wall. You have to come out fighting. And I want to make sure you have that in you. I never want to go into a bar, a club, into a situation where I’ve got somebody with me and he doesn’t want to fight.”
Coach went on to say, “You all want the perks and accolades that accompany the man but not the work and consistency that he must put in consistently to be who he is. Today is going to be a day just like yesterday. You have to make up in your mind if you’re going to fight.
