Under pressure from LGBTQ activists and progressive employees – some of whom have walked out of their jobs in protest – Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek came out and criticized Florida’s controversial “Don’t Say Gay.”
In a statement released to Disney’s employees, Chapek said: “Speaking to you, reading your messages, and meeting with you have helped me better understand how painful our silence was,” he wrote. “It is clear that this is not just an issue about a bill in Florida, but instead yet another challenge to basic human rights.”
Disney vowed last week it would work to repeal the legislation in Florida because it’s dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of the LGBTQ+ community.
However, it appears not all Disney employees are against Florida’s parental rights bill.
Human Events reporter Jack Posobiec tweeted that he received leaked screenshots from a Disney cast member. The screenshots show Disney employees arguing for Florida’s parental rights bill.
Just had a cast member at Disney leak me a ton of screenshots from their internal staff message boards of Disney employees arguing in support of the Florida bill.
Will post once we sanitize them to protect anonymity.
A Disney shareholder recently spoke out against the company’s involvement in Florida politics by opposing the Republican-led “Parental Rights in Education” bill championed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Ray Keating, an economist, and editor of DisneyBizJournal.com said that it rarely turns out well when businesses dive into the political arena.
“Here’s a suggestion for Disney CEO Bob Chapek: Get back to business, that is, excellence in storytelling, and stop wasting shareholder’s money on political crusades that have nothing to do with Disney’s business,” Keating told Fox News Digital.
This is breaking news. As more screenshots are released, they will be added to this page.
