Two top aides to former President Donald Trump had their cellphones seized while roughly 40 other associates were issued subpoenas as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
The uptick in activity reportedly involves a deeper dive into conversations and involvement in an alleged scheme to replace electors.
The New York Times is reporting that in-house counsel Boris Epshteyn and Mike Roman, a former campaign strategist, had their cellphones seized in the sweeping operation.
They also note that federal officials have “blanketed” Trump’s aides with about 40 subpoenas.
“Merrick Garland’s DOJ is demanding all communication” from the individuals subpoenaed, according to Carlson. “What is this? On what grounds are you demanding my private communications with people? They never say.”

None of them were subpoenaed. None of them had their cell phones seized. They weren’t accused of insurrection.
Free speech, Carlson explains, is a “core freedom” that allowed them to object to the election results.
“That’s why nobody prosecuted leading Democrats in 2016 when they sought to reject electors for Donald Trump,” he explained. “It’s why none of those people, including Kamala Harris, is now in jail.”

Carlson’s colleague at Fox, Jesse Watters, suggested the onslaught verbally and now legally by the Biden administration is the President’s perceived “war on terror.”
“When the Bush administration was spying on Muslims, raiding their homes, and arresting them, the Democrats were up in arms. Remember?” Watters asked. “‘What about the terrorists’ rights? Bush has gone too far.’”
“Now Biden’s using Bush’s war on terror language and tactics against Republicans.”

The Political Insider reported earlier this month that the DOJ said they would adhere to a guideline holding off on any possible charges against Trump until after the midterm elections.
The policy meant “prosecutors are barred from taking investigative steps or filing charges for the purpose of affecting an election or helping a candidate or party, traditionally 60 days before an election,” according to Bloomberg News.
We now have cellphones being seized and subpoenas handed out left and right just 56 days out from the midterms.
