The battle to maintain biological women’s exclusive participation in sports has only just begun and is expected to be lengthy.
The fight gained significant attention when ex-University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines was compelled to compete with transgender athlete Lia Thomas. Now, Gaines has taken the fight to the next level to safeguard women’s and girls’ sports by filing a lawsuit for $2 million against Thomas, who was born as biological male William Thomas.
The suit accuses Thomas of cheating to win the national women’s swimming championship and exposing himself in a female locker room.
