There are few types of people “woke” leftists and media figures hate more than members of so-called “minority” voting blocs who refuse to toe the Democrat party victimhood line, people who choose to think differently which, last I checked, was supposed to be okay to do in America.
Unfortunately, the group most often on the receiving end of the left’s/media’s hateful vitriol when they don’t fall in line are black conservatives, something we’ve seen play out repeatedly the last several decades, with the more notable examples on a national level being in how despicably they’ve treated Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), both of who are routinely hit with vile accusations that they are “Uncle Toms” among the numerous other derogatory racial smears used by radical agitators and their government allies to describe black people who don’t view white people as the enemy.
Incredibly, one woke House Democrat tried to give off the impression this week that he was completely unaware members of his party hated Justice Thomas on the basis that he was a black conservative. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, who represents New York’s 8th Congressional District, asked Schaerr Jaffe law firm partner Mark Paoletta during a Wednesday subcommittee hearing on instituting formal “ethics and recusal standards” for Supreme Court Justices what his evidence was for his opening statement claim that Democrats couldn’t stand Thomas because he was a black conservative.
Paoletta, who during former President Donald Trump’s term was the general counsel for the Office of Management and Budget, embarrassed Jeffries big time by pointing out that the chair of the committee – Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) – had called Thomas an “Uncle Tom” in 2014. A clearly agitated Jeffries then began babbling about the “free speech” rights of Thompson and how he and other black Democrats had in the past been called the “n-word” (as though that made calling Thomas an “Uncle Tom” acceptable) before attempting to move on and “reclaiming” his time.
When Paoletta offered more examples, Jeffries of course declined to let him give them.

I’m sure that it never occurred to Jeffries that if Thompson had the First Amendment right to call Thomas an “Uncle Tom” and remain on a Congressional subcommittee during a hearing where Thomas was the target then Ginni Thomas also had the First Amendment right to express her concerns about the election while Justice Thomas remained on the Supreme Court hearing cases about the Capitol riot.
As you might have guessed, the focus of the hearing was indeed Clarence Thomas after the breathless media (nothingburger) reports in March about Thomas’ wife Ginni’s text messages to then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows – most of which reportedly were sent in November – where she expressed concern about election fraud and wanted to urge Trump to keep fighting against the certification of the election.
After the story was published, Democrats and the Usual Suspects in the media began calling either for Justice Thomas’ impeachment or for him to recuse himself from cases that have anything to do with the events of January 6th, 2021.

As the Ben Shapiro saying goes, facts don’t care about your feelings, and they definitely didn’t care about Jeffries’ hurt feelings during Wednesday’s hearing. Bless his heart.
